After you see The Sweeney, which opens today, you’re invited to hoist a few cold ones tonight in behalf of the British action thriller in a pub crawl.

What’s that? You haven’t heard about The Sweeney yet? No matter, you’re still invited. While enjoying the drink specials and appetizers, you can maybe find out a bit about the R-rated movie, which stars Ray Winstone, Ben Drew, Hayley Atwell and Damian Lewis.

The pub crawl starts at 8 p.m. at Roeder’s Pub at 3116 S. Shepherd, then moves to Firkin & Phoenix Pub at 1915 Westheimer at 9 pm. At 10 p.m., crawl on over to the Red Lion British Pub at 2316 S. Shepherd. There are drink specials at the first two pubs and free appetizers at the Red Lion.

Everyone will receive special promo items at each pub. And you’re encouraged to come dressed in Union Jack clothing or colors.

Tearing up the streets of London, The Sweeney is a stylish, exhilarating action thriller, proving sometimes you have to act like a criminal to catch a criminal. Armed and dangerous, the Sweeney Flying Squad are old school crime fighters enforcing the law. Led by legendary detective Jack Regan (Ray Winstone) and his loyal partner, they have their own unique way of operating and always get results. With a bank heist in progress and his old enemy making reappearance on the London crime scene, Regan will do whatever it takes to get the job done, even defying orders from his no-nonsense boss (Damian Lewis).
