The Avengers‘ $80.5 million opening day box office tally lags behind the record $91.1 million earned last summer by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, on its opening day. Still, Box Office Mojo says it is “practically a mathematical certainty” that The Avengers will set a new opening weekend record, beating Deathly Hallows‘ weekend total of $169.2 million. [...]
